Been a few days...

On July 30th, Makena took two steps on her own. She just stood up and started to put one foot in front of the other. Of course I got so excited and she immediately fell on her belly. She has been trying to take steps here and there every since than. I am so proud of her! She is growing up too fast, but I am so excited that she can pick up on most things easily. Hopefully this means she will be a lot more coordinated than I am.

We went to see Dr. Rohn yesterday (her ENT) and discussed pre-op stuff. Signed paperwork, paid in advance for the surgery and then he looked into her ears. She had a pretty severe ear infection we discovered last Monday. Put her on antibiotics and yesterday she was on day 8 of a 10 day antibiotic. Dr. Rohn said they still looked really bad. They shouldn't look that way on 8 days of antibiotics. This confirms that we have made the right decision to go ahead with the procedure. He said after her surgery, he will provide us with antibiotic ear drops to help clear the current infection. Bless her heart, she should be in a lot of pain and really unhappy...but she's not! Happy as a lark for the most part. He told us that when we come to see him for her post-op appointment we will be surprised at the difference in her. She will be able to hear more clearly (they will do a hearing test that day) and if she is already trying to balance herself and has taken a few steps, tubes just might be what she needs to help her out with walking. WOW!

Yesterday she learned to wave bye bye. She actully holds her palms facing up and closes her fingers towards herself...I think most babies learn to wave like this. When she first did it, I don't think she realiezed she was saying bye-bye. Everytime she did it I would get really excited and wave back to her saying "bye-bye" and she has pretty much gotten that one down now. She is like a sponge...absorbes everything. Did I tell you about her fake coughing?? When she coughes, sometimes I will mimick her and then she forces herself to keep coughing. TOO CUTE!

Okay, thats all for now...should you ever need your printer fixed, please call Makena. Check the picture out below.

Yay!!! I can't believe she's walking in the week we're gone!

I'll be thinking about you guys today and I'll say a prayer.. If you get a chance, call and let me know how everything goes. I don't want to call and disturb, but I want to know how Mac Mac's procedure goes and that she's alright.
